The Miguel Contreras Foundation (MCF) recently celebrated an exciting milestone through a new partnership with UFCW Local 770, supporting 17 pharmacy technicians in completing specialized immunization training and earning their certifications, unlocking an immediate $2/hour wage increase! A $2/hour raise translates to approximately $4,160 in additional annual earnings for a full-time worker.
This seven-hour training marked an exciting first for MCF, demonstrating how targeted upskilling opportunities can directly translate into higher wages, expanded skills, and greater economic mobility for union workers.
Beyond the training itself, MCF provided participants with stipends to offset wages lost while attending, breakfast and lunch, and vouchers worth up to $150 for new medical scrubs. By addressing both financial and practical barriers to participation, MCF helped ensure that workers could focus on advancing their careers without sacrificing their financial stability.

MCF looks forward to expanding this model and partnering with UFCW Local 770 and other unions on future opportunities to help more workers gain valuable skills, advance their careers, and earn the wages they deserve.
