LOS ANGELES, Calif. –

The Miguel Contreras Foundation (MCF) is proud to announce its selection as a CA RISE grant recipient! Chosen alongside more than 20 organizations, MCF will participate in the California Regional Initiative for Social Enterprise (CA RISE) Incubator Track, an exciting opportunity to develop a sustainable, mission-driven business that creates meaningful employment opportunities for communities facing barriers to employment.

Developed in partnership with the California Office of the Small Business Advocate and led by Redefine Alliance, CA RISE provides funding, technical assistance, and specialized support to organizations developing employment social enterprises (ESEs). These revenue-generating, mission-driven businesses combine economic opportunity with social impact by creating jobs, training opportunities, and career pathways for individuals who have historically faced barriers to employment.

Over the next 16 months, MCF will participate in intensive workshops, individualized counseling, and collaborative convenings to develop and launch its first employment social enterprise. The Foundation's initial concept focuses on the growing electric vehicle (EV) industry, specifically converting diesel-powered trucks into electric vehicles while creating hands-on training and employment opportunities in emerging industries.

As MCF moves through the incubator, this concept will continue to evolve through expert guidance, strategic planning, and collaboration with fellow social entrepreneurs. The ultimate goal is to develop a business model that creates quality jobs and economic opportunities for underserved communities while generating sustainable revenue to support MCF's nonprofit mission.

This award marks an exciting new chapter for MCF, expanding the Foundation's approach to workforce development and exploring innovative ways to build long-term economic opportunity and organizational sustainability.
