At MCF, we believe leadership begins when young people realize their voices have the power to create change. During a memorable visit to Los Angeles City Hall, our Know Your Rights Ambassadors had the incredible opportunity to meet with the Mayor and engage directly with city staff about the issues impacting their lives and communities. Students spoke candidly about topics including immigration, homelessness, the challenges of finding employment, the impact of ICE on their families and neighborhoods, and their hopes for a more equitable Los Angeles. They asked thoughtful questions, shared personal experiences, and offered ideas for how the City can better support students, workers, immigrants, and local communities.

By the end of the day, our students left City Hall with something even more valuable than answers—they left knowing that their voices matter, that civic engagement is powerful, and that they have the ability to shape the future of their communities. We hope this experience inspires them to continue advocating, leading, and creating positive change for years to come.
